My 2008 Ridgeline had a check engine light on for Cat efficiency that would come & go. After a fews months the vtm-4 light started coming on @ dash along with steady check engine light. It finally came up with a code for the a O2 sensor which was out of range. A new O2 solved all problems and drives noticeably better.

May 20, 2007 · Most likely the VTM-4 is not stuck on. The light may be on, but that indicates a failure is occurring in the VTM-4 or transmission systems. If the light is the only symptom, then drive it to the dealer and have it diagnosed. If thew truck feels weird - like it is grabby or shakes bad when making a tight turn, then you should get it towed.
Anonymous. VTM-4 LIGHT is the 4x4 option you can use when your in the auto shift gears 1 and 2. When you put the shifter in 1 or 2 gear, you can push the VTM-4 button on dash and you will engage the 4 wheel drive constently. If you switch out of 1st or 2nd gear it will disengage automatically. The VTM-4 also works in reverse gear.

A year later, My check Engine light came on and VTM-4 Light came on also. I noticed car vibrates when I have it on and on park. Shakes and gas is miles are horrible. SOmetimes it struggles in highway, sort of feels kind of heavy. The lights do come on and off.
